Over 30 years at the forefront of digital logistics

Portel Logistic Technologies has taken a great leap forward by evolving from a state-owned company when it was founded by the Puertos del Estado and Telefónica in 1995 with minority stake to a private entity. GTD took over Telefónica shares early 2013. Through public tender, it later acquired 51% shares owned by Puertos del Estado.

Privatization of the company allows it to adapt more efficiently to competitivity in the market. It also lets it define strategies for development in a broader framework by offering its services not only to all players in the maritime ports but also to other players in the logistics networks. Globalization of the markets has already driven the company to a process of internationalization in recent years. With fewer administrative constraints and considering the expertise of GTD in the international market, there is no doubt that it will be an engine for growth in the future.

GTD will transfer resources, knowledge and references to Portel. It will thereby reinforce and complement Portel with its existing vast capacity and accumulated expertise. On such a basis, Portel will be a reference company for both domestic and international markets. This is the goal that we, the shareholders, managers and staff, share.
